Coffee Filter Turkeys. (We hang these in our windows). Students color a coffe filter with markers and dip it in water. Let dry and children love to see their beautiful creations.
Indian Corn. (We integrate Math & art by using an ABC pattern)
INDIAN SAND ART - We took baby food jars and layered them with different colored "sand". Actually, I took powdered tempra and salt & mixed it together.

NOVEMBER BULLETIN BOARD IDEAS
Here are some more bulletin boards down our hall . . . .
More Art Projects . . . . .
I found a corn pattern that the children cut out. We popped popcorn & shook colored tempra paint on it. Students glued the popcorn on & a raffia bow was added.
Our November Quilt.
Turkeys made out of Pantyhose & a hanger. Students glue on construction paper feathers, eyes, beak, gobble and feet. We always hang projects from the ceiling out in our hall.
These are our Dream Catchers.Take a circle and have the middle cut out already for the students. Take a hole punch and make holes on the inside of the circle. Students take yarn (about as long as their arm) and pull through the holes. Glue a pattern using construction paper pattern blocks. Glue on three long strips. Add a feather on each end and glue on beads. I read to them the Legend of the Dreamcatcher.
Pictures of Our Thanksgiving Feast
Kindergarten does so many math activities for the month of November with Box & Bag It that we decided to be Native Americans. We asked the Third Grade to have a feast with us. They were the Pilgrims. We paired off an Indian with a Pilgrim. We ate together, played some Indian Games & signed a "Peace Treaty" that states that we will always be friends. Here are the pictures of our feast:
This picture is not from our feast, however, we did study about Pilgrims during "P" week where we also made the hats, collars & bonnets.
Here is my co-workers, Mrs. Fox' Class, as the Native Americans before the feast.

Playing A Native American Math Game.
Both pictures above & below: Our Native American (Kindergarten student) and our Pilgrim (Third Grade Student) sign a peace treaty of friendship. They both signed one anothers for keepsake. I got this idea from another Kindergarten Website:
Kinderthemes(Click on to go to this site & see the words) This, too is a great site!
My aid painted tongue depressors of many colors and designs. I made the sheet up on the computer. Break students up into pairs. Each gets a paper, 5 sticks, and a pencil. Students throw their 5 sticks up in the air. If it lands face up/indian design up then you write down a tally. (The other side of the stick is plain). For example, if 3 land with the design showing then you give yourself 3 tallies. You don't give yourself a tally for the 2 that are face up blank. Take turns throwing your 5 sticks & recording your results. The first person who gets 20 tallies wins.

My Native American Bulletin Board- I have the students' face pictures on an Indian boy or girl. See up close below. We added a headband & feathers, too. We also added our dream catchers for a catchy look.
Students enjoyed making these at the Art Center. Native American men wore these around their necks. Very cute!
Native American Clothing
Native American Vest - Made out of brown paper sack. We glue on pattern blocks all over the vest. We wear these to our Thanksgiving Feast.
This is our headbandbefore it was stapled together. We took a long strip of black paper (pattern blocks show up better on black construction paper) and glued on feathers. We did this on a Friday. They had to earn their feathers for the week. If they stayed on green everyday (my behavior system which means they were good) they earned a feather As you can see here this child made it 4 out of 5 days of being good. This is the first year I've tried it like this.

Table Top Turkeys - These can be a hat for the kids or can be used as a centerpiece for the table. Take a piece of brown Construction paper and form it into a circle and glue together. Add a small circle for the head. Add eyes, beak and gobble. Add feathers and feet as shown above.
